UNLV Regulator Executive Education Seminar: Gaming of the Future

Offered by:

UNLV

WHEN: 09:00 to 12:00 (GMT) - Monday, 6 February 2017
WHERE: South Gallery 21-22

COST: Complimentary for 50 regulators at executive level, with RSVP required

Casino operators and gaming manufacturers have spent a number of years struggling to envision “the casino of the future”. Multiple forces have added to the complexity of the challenge: an aging user base, a general disinterest in traditional gambling forms among millennials, integrated resorts leveraging new platforms in iGaming and esports, and the video gamification of terrestrial gaming.

For regulators, the task is equally daunting: How to develop appropriate regulatory structures and statutes for a rapidly changing industry and how to cultivate a regulatory workforce proficient in these emerging offerings?

The International Center for Gaming Regulation at The University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) will offer a complementary 3-hour executive education session for senior regulatory leaders at ICE on Monday, 6 February (09:00 – 12:00) to explore these themes.

•    The program will be highly experiential and will leverage a real-world student capstone esports in the integrated resort project recently presented to global gaming operators in Las Vegas.

•    We will utilize roundtable exercises to identify regulatory solutions to a future-state integrated resort design produced by a millennial aged cohort from UNLV’s Prof. Robert Rippee’s classes on integrated resort design and esports.

•    Our faculty will explore the business models utilised by the students and investigate what regulatory tools will be necessary to oversee an integrated resort that blends igaming, esports and the casino floor experience.

Participation is limited to 50 senior gaming regulatory leaders
